I will be the first to admit that divers should take responsibility for t= heir own actions. As for Dive Paradise's track record, I will only comment ba= sed on my personal experience. I have not been diving with them for ten year= s, I have only dove with them 3 times. Here are three reasons why there will = not be a fourth... 1) On my first trip, I learned that one of the divers in our group was o= nly resort certified. We had been wall diving at 90' and he was no where nea= r the direct supervision of the divemaster. 2) On my second trip the operator was prepared to let our group dive the= Devil's Throat. There were several members of the group that were making= there first dives following their open water class and it was their first= time diving in the ocean. Unknown to the operator I was an instructor and had= trained some of these individuals. I advised them that despite the fact = that the operator was going to allow it, they were not ready for this dive. I= t wasn't until I personally backed out of the trip that the others also canceled. 3) On my third trip one diver got bent. Getting emergency O2 from Dive Paradise's Dive Shop was like pulling teeth. They did not give any assis= tance with the rescue. That's 3 out of 3.
