Hi Came across the item below in an Oceanographic newsletter ... thought some of you may be interested. Kia Ora..R Divex (GF254) has developed THOR-a Therapeutic Hyperbaric Oxygen Rebreather in response to a requirement for a major navy. It's a simple oxygen rebreather recirculation system for use in hyperbari environments. It monitors oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the patient's breathing system; and reduces logistical support and the cost of oxygen therapy. THOR was originally designed to overcome the problem of supporting large numbers of patients such as rescued submariners, for long periods of decompression requiring oxygen. A major constraint in such situations was the mid and long term availability of oxygen. The rescue vessels simply could not transport all of the O2 required or have it readily available. THOR reduces the amount of oxygen required on- site significantly. It can also be used in small transportable rescue chambers or in any situation as a stand-by system in case oxygen supplies are limited. THORA - is a unique hyperbaric oxygen and carbon dioxide gas monitor mounted on the THOR rebreather. It is fitted with adjustable high and low alarms to warn the patient or supervisor of incorrect oxygen levels perhaps leading to a poor treatment, or high CO2 levels if the CO2 absorbent requires replacing.
