From: tom wylie <hoveller@ho*.co*> > Like it or not, the British SubAqua Clubs (BSAC) stance in the UK > is recommended max 50 meters, and has been for over 30 years.. This is the same organisation that does not permit 100% O2 for deco and yet provides an 'extended range' course, their 'top' instructors insisting on 80% mix. It also does not allow Trimix to be used - instead preferring its members to do deep air see: http://www.bsac.com/techserv/sdpip.htm > > A lot of people do it over here and in what some may consider difficult > diving environments.. Britain generally lags the 'states by >5 years - hey they only got Wal-Mart last year. Progressive divers are opening their eyes to DIR. The main problem is their wallets (Brits are notorious misers) Step #1 when starting out DIR, is to go to the nearest hardware store and buy a big plastic bin. As you learn and adopt DIR, this bin gets filled with all the expensive, dangerous junk you only bought last year. Step #2 put the bin out next to the trash. Many thanks for all the replies on the issue of hydration. safe diving, D. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
