Learning points 1 - There is still a lot to learn 2 - I've changed some of my kit configuration - figure I'll give it a go = and try to get used to the changes, only small changes I might add, I = was quite please to find that in principle my kit appears to conform to = the DIR requirements. I have changed hose layout and removed bungles = from wing. I'm not prepared to throw away the wing so I'll stick to one = with a redundant bladder for the time being. I have however tied off the = additional inflator to the side of the backplate out of the way. 3 - You can't get everything from GUE.com at least not enough = explanation to get in my skull 4 - Some of this medical stuff goes right over my head and that's where = it can stay until I start doing the next training course seriously Question 1 Kit configuration - Serious question so please don't start calling me a = fucking stroke Why is it better to have a harness made of one continuous piece of = webbing. I tried this type and found it less comfortable than the type = which has a large ss ring just under the rib cage. This ring appears to = ensure the webbing sits more comfortably. My regular diving buddy is of = the fairer sex and can be described as two Zepplins arriving at the = finish line in a dead heat. The single piece webbing she had with her = back plate has just been changed to the other type because with the = single piece webbing the webbing kept being forced apart and over her = shoulders by the Zepplins. Not comfortable, not a very good idea. The = new harness also has a chest strap, which, with the appropriate amount = of fumbling near the Zepplins (which was very enjoyable) has now been = positioned just under the zepplins and has thus ensured her comfort = during the last dozen dives. What are your thoughts? Question 2 Do you believe that there is ever a case when dive computers are DIR? = and what about solo diving? I regularly go to the Maldives. Easy diving - 32 meters max, No = decompression diving, Reefs from 6 meters (ideal for safety stops) going = down hundreds of meters but usually 25 - 30 meters except in the main = channels. Typical dives are truly multilevel as they consist of dives to = say 30 meters and a slow accent over 60 - 90 minutes always avoiding = deco. A tables dive would severely restrict diving as the dive operators = enforce the no deco rule with no exceptions! Diving here for me usually = involves solo diving as not many buddies want to spend a whole dive = watching me motionless with the digital camera! I Dive twinned up with = total redundancy (over redundancy in fact) - no overhead, no wrecks, no = penetration, 40 meters viz, 28c water temp, no nets, no line, no deco, = MOD typically 25 - 30 meters and reefs up to 6 meters giving good = reference all the way through an accent. What are your thoughts? where do you see the dangers if any? Should I = throw away the camera or try to find a buddy thick enough to dive with = me? ------=_NextPart_000_0024_01BF7F07.1EE6BD00 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.00.2614.3500" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Hi George (aka trey)</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>So I took your advice, read all I could = find,=20 learnt quite a lot, and watched the war of words!</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Learning points</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>1 - There is still a lot to = learn</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>2 - I've changed some of my kit = configuration -=20 figure I'll give it a go and try to get used to the changes, only small = changes=20 I might add, I was quite please to find that in principle my kit appears = to=20 conform to the DIR requirements.
