Subject: [SUMMARY] Re: My gear to date (some pics)
Many thanks to everyone who's replied sofar. Certainly been a worth while
exercise, not only do the pics allow me to get feedback from people who
dive this kind of setup (no possibility of that locally) but also I've
never seen what the setup looks like myself (makes it easier for me to
recognise problems).

Some changes I've made:

1) The major comment I've had to date is that I should swap to a shorter
hose for my backup reg and bring it over my shoulder. This is the correct
DIR way of routing this hose. I used a longer hose and put it under my arm
because I thought it would keep it out of the way more and give me more
lenght if needed (had seen a picture from the list with the backup hose
routed this was). There are problems with this approach. I'M GOING TO
ORDER A 20-22 INCH HOSE AND ROUTE IT OVER MY SHOULDER.

2) Last night I replaced the D400 with a new R190 I bought recently (will
probably use this till I can replace it with something better). Tried it
this morning and worked fine (fairly normal depth range, reasonable current
running though and very rough surface conditions). Our deepest dives
(rare) are not deep at all by list standards, R190 should be more than
adequate. May be trivial, but I also put a bright yellow diaphragm cover
on the primary (long hose) and a black cover on the backup to clearly
identify the reg I'm donating (opposite of how I had things in the pics,
took out pins so I can take them apart easier too).

3) Related, I couldn't find a good example of how to configure the ports on
a single first stage. From a picture on the Halcyon web site and adapting
what I've seen for doubles rigs, I swapped my long hose to the bottom (or
top, depending how you look at it) LP port on my MK 10 (everything else is
as in picture). This seems to give me easier access to the tank valve and
routes the two reg hoses away from each other. Will see how this works.

4) The hose length of my long hose is 5 feet. It seems to suit me
(rerouting the backup should solve any clutter apparent in the pics on my
web page).

5) My car keys are not normally hanging out like in the pictures (had just
opened the boot). I clip them to my watch strap which is under my
lycra/wet suit top.

6) Will have a think about the strobe, I do like to have it at hand but
suspect rerouting the short hose will dictate a new hiding place.

Will try and and replace images on my page when I've made all the changes.
Don't know if making a perminent gear page would be helpful to others
looking at setting up wings and harness for single tank rec diving.

Cheers,

Simon
