Tom, as I told you privately, the only thing that needs to be "dropped" in this issue is the bullshit. If you want to have a discussion, then you need to: 1) forget the personal stuff with me - I admit to doing whatever it takes to win, and that we do not need to belabor it any further. I realize that you and Bill Stone have a problem with that. Too bad, winning is winning - you can make new friends but you can not make new cave. So I am a scumbag where competition is involved. I admit it. Don't try to compete with me like Stone did, and there will be no problem. 2) Stop the JJ bulshit - JJ is trying to be nice , and trying to avoid the barrage of boneheads complaining all the time about me. He is in the dive business, I don't care if the whole world hates me, they are not my "customers". You are not going to get between me and him - we are too close and you should know that. You need to wake up and realize that I am the comonon denominator is all of the diving from day one, and in the organization and success of our Project. Again, that is due to doing whatever it takes to win, doing it right, insisting on attempted perfection, and sticking with it while others fell by the wayside. You will notice that only JJ and I are left of the originals, and of course, your pal Alton Hall. 3) The "skill" aspect is nothing - anyone who does things my way suddenly can do what they never dreamed possible. I personally could not dive the way most of your intructors dive without drowning, and certainly could not get to first base in a cave, but then neither do any of them, so that is not an isue here. Logic is. 4) Don't try to tell me what is "safe" based on how many people have not died doing it. Give me the logic only, and I will give you the logic only. If you feel, Tom, that you can not do this without pissing off the many people you constantly are forced to deal with and answer to, then skip over the subject ( like some of the absurd gear your pals in the dive industry try to peddle on the unknowing, or the nonsense some of your more barnyardish instructors say). 5) Do not ever try to tell me that there is any excuse for "teaching" deep air and calling it "tech" diving. That is ridiculous, so skip it. Just go ahead and say the anyhone who does not want to do things wrong can go to GUE instead of being forced to mark bottles wrong, dive steel with a wetsuit, dive air, dive multi wings, dive stages on the wrong side, dive less than optimal reg arrengements, dive the wrong gases, identify bottles by colors and poodle jackets and sides and other insanity, do the wrong deco, get trained by an instructor wearing an electronic rebreahter, participate in Eastern mysticism of other crack house silliness, including Tai Chi breathing, etc, etc. Just make it clear that there is an alternative, and then let's talk about the logic of why I am wrong and why my stuff does not work ( ? ) and why the other stuff out there is so clever, whether you personally do it or not. Let me also please ask of you that you do not ever confuse me or DIR with "Hogarthian" in any way - that is a direct insult, and is like calling me a stroke or a bonesmuggler or something. I'd rather admit to the latter than to doing anything "Hogarthian". Also, Tom, one more thing - when making a point on here, please do not attach the World Book to your posts - this is like a mail bomb when you do it. Skip the IANTD "standards" and just do the logic part. I think that you will find that if you get over your resentment of me, tell your shop monkeys and mutant army of intructors to lose my name or just call me "Mr. Irvine", then you and I can get along just fine like we used to before you decided to become the Defender Of The Stroke. By the way, one more inaccuracy in your comments - I never dove on your boat because you always were running a Jerry Lewis telethon on there but you did dive on mine and we had a lot of fun. So quit being a jerk. Tom, you have dove with us ( WKPP ) on and off for years. You know we run the best operation in the game. Stop fighting it. You also know in your heart of hearts that if you had the control over your organization that I have over mine, you would never have to deal with any problems.
