Don, you can't teach a pig to sing. Take a clsoer look at Mike Black.
The man is an MD. He dives. Not too many of them, right? Maybe a guy who
could look into things and give us ( "lay" people ) some insights based
on his professional training. But wait, the fact is he ingores that and
instead has decided to not only behave like a mutant dive shop monkey
and do his "research" by talking to the lowest common denominator in the
sport ( notice who he quotes and how old-wifish his beliefs are ), but
he does so with the arrogance that only extreme ignorance can provide. 

 This tells me two things - one, he wants to be a hot shot for some
reason, and has sought an appropriate audience at rec scuba and in the
dive magazines aimed at neophytes, and two, he wants to believe what the
boat apes tell him. Already this makes me very suspicious that this is
the only time in his life he ahs ever participated in any sport of any
kind.

 This is epedemic in diving. The only thing Black may be lacking to
complete the pitcure is a beard and a gut, but I personally would bet
that he must have both, but he says he is "in shape", but then they all
say that. I'll tell him when he is in shape.

 The only problem , and the only reason to try to teach this pig to sing
is that he is going out of his way to pulicize his dangerous ,
misinformed stupidity. The problem wiht that is he is by no means alone.

 My solution is that those of us who know what we are talking about get
as much info out there as is possible and make clear sense with it so
that the Mike Blacks of diving are immediately busted as morons.
