To Those Who Have The Rebreather Itch: As some of you out there might have read in Rod's article posted a few months back on techdiver as well as in Aquacorps Magazine the two of us each came into the possession of a CR155, the civilian model of the Biomarine Mixed Gas Rebreather. I've currently got about 11k into it. This includes it's purchase, training, and re-plumbing to add a bail out reg and or BC inflator. The biggest problem I've had so far is finding a regulator that would handle 230 psi of intermediate pressure. (if any of you out there have any ideas I would be glad to hear about what you think might work). Anyways getting back to the subject at hand; after spending 3 days at TEK and seeing all of the units that were on the market or about to go on the market I thank my lucky stars that I bought a CR155. It is smaller, easier, less cumbersom, does not have 10 extra gizmos to keep track of and it is a closed circut electronicly controlled unit with manual overide. Yea the Cis-lunar is supposed to be the cats ass but how many of you out there actually have title to one, and those of you who put a deposit on one when are you really going to get it? 15k plus 3k for training plus annual services, who needs it? I can rip this thing apart and put it back together by myself with the exception of the electronics. Any competent EE can be hired to fix that for me. As far as the rest of the manufacturers out there they are to worried about the liability factor. Unfortunately the've got good reason to be. The Prism, I suppose, if you want a semi closed system. It won't work for me I need stealth and time at depth, I make natural history films. Every 3rd or 4th breath is going to freak the Hammer Heads, or the Spotted Sea Trouts. Six hours of bottom time is plenty and the CR155 has it. I didn't mean to be so wordy but its pay back for the last three months of email that I've been reading here on techdiver. Hey Rod this is not an advertisement. Oh by the way for the next 30 days I'll be in Fiji filming underwater using my CR155 so direct any questions you might have to rodfarb@ce*.co* See ya John E.
