Steve, as far as I'm concerned, it would be better if you DID criticise diving instead of indulging yourself in pompous, uneccessarily long-winded, and poorly thought-out diatribes against the styles of expression of some list members. Buddy, if all you want to do is debate communication styles, you're on the wrong list. This is a TECHNICAL DIVING list. Let me say that again. TECHNICAL DIVING. If your post is not about TECHNICAL DIVING you are hijacking this forum for your own agenda and in doing that, you are abusing every member of the list who is here to be informed and to inform about TECHNICAL DIVING. >Your diving may or may not be describable as a significant technical achievement, it matters not one jot to me to be perfectly honest. Its not about individuals. Steve, this is an idiotic statement when made in a TECHNICAL DIVING forum. If significant technical achievements don't mean anything to you, you don't belong on the list. The list has survived, grown and developed its own community and standards without the help of any 'social monitors' or 'politeness standards inspectors' such as yourself. Where were you in the early days of the list when you could have helped build and shape it. All I see now, years later, when the hard yards have all been done by others including George Irvine & WKPP members, is a johnny-come-lately who sees a good thing and wants to take it over. When we start a list about INTERNET POLITENESS or FEELINGS or IMPOSING AN INDIVIDUAL'S STANDARDS ON A NETWORKED COMMUNITY, or WHY THE POMS STILL PRODUCE THE MOST CONSTANT WHINERS IN THE WORLD, then we will be sure to call on you for guidance, instruction and example. Until then, may I express a sentiment which is probably held by the majority of individuals on this TECHNICAL DIVING list and tell you piss off, take your outmoded social agenda with you, and don't let the door slam you in the ass etc. rgrds billyw -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
