Thanks Martin. Since you are a NOAA-trained physician I respect your comments. But I'm not so sure the NOAA guidelines are conservative enough. Peter Bennett alluded to this in his recent editorial on Nitrox in Alert Diver. Also George has seen fatalities from hyperoxic mixes (Bobby McGuire breathing 50% O2 at 140ffw). I believe Hans Petter Roverud's comments about hydrostatic pressure effects increasing perfusion to the CNS. Maybe 1.6 is way too high, and the whole scale should be shifted to 1.4 or less.
