Several years ago I had a bad connection on a 7 ft long LP hose that came to my local dive shop from a north central Florida equipment manufacturer. While decoing my buddy saw that my long hose (which was stuffed - I have since wised up) had grown to 3x its normal diameter. When we got out of the water, the hose burst with a loud and scary bang. Actually, the crimp had allowed air between the outer jacket and the inner hose, and only the outer jacket ruptured. Upon notification, the manufacturer immediately recalled all of the similar hoses and replaced them. Now I inspect everything (even my Halcyon stuff) carefully before every dive, and have found 2 faulty new inflator hoses bought in Florida. The final QC on these hoses appears to be us, so look carefully before you dive a new hose. al wells -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
