Skip, I was going to say the same thing about the instructor, but with the steels, you need them to hold down the drysuit. The gas is obviously way overkill, and the big steels are a risk walking around on a boat. Keep in mind that this is a class he is talking about, and instructors tend to teach fear an loathing of eveything from running out of gas to deco, and then they try to get students to expose themselves to ridiculous bottom times and real deco risk without having any knowledge of the student.
