Michael, If I want certain qualities in my buddy, I see it as my personal obligation to be *at least* as good myself (meet my own expectations). Most divers with DIR rig I met were nice, wanted to learn *with* me and were fairly modest. The same people have another nice "feature": they do dive planning, safety drills and postdive analysis, mainly looking for their own improvement rather than telling other people what to do. These I consider to be my buddies. Does that sound conceived? Guess not.
