Location really doesn't matter. DIR works all around
the world, whether it be thousands of feet back in a
cave, under arctic ice or under 15 feet of water in
the tropics. It was developed in the most demanding of
conditions and has been tested successfully around the
world. No one yet on this list or anywhere else has
been able to find anything inherently flawed with DIR,
neither in configuration nor in applicability to a
specific location, and those who have proposed
alternatives have been shown the errors of their
logic. It is equally valid for both the sport diver
and the technical diver. Can you elucidate the reasons
for which DIR will not suit you?

By the way, DIR is more than just a way by which to
rig dive gear; it is a philosophy of diving. A couple
of the pages that I would recommend for you read for
information on gear and an explanation thereof are the
following: http://gue.com/equipment/jj-hogarth.html
and http://www.mindspring.com/~toddleonard/caverig/.
There are a lot of great DIR resources out there. Read
them before you dismiss the system. To neglect one
aspect is to convolute the entire system. I am by no
means an expert on DIR yet, but I am learning. You
will find that this list is an invaluable resource.
There are also a lot of divers out there, a number of
whom are on this list, who have years of experience
with DIR whom I have found from personal experience to
be of great help in explaining aspects of the system.
