I suspect that the term "air" is used as generic.

You have to remember that the BSAC is fundamentally a recreational diving
organisation.  "BSAC dives" are those up to 50m and involving no more than 20
minutes of deco in any one day.  Despite rejecting Nitrox initially, BSAC
then adopted it.  It has not adopted Helium-based mixtures.  So, a 50m air
dive would be within the range permitted by BSAC.

Out of curiosity, is anyone aware if in the report the
term air is used as the generic term for gas or for
air itself? If the latter is true, it seems like air
has been taken to deeper depths than it should have
been in many of the cases stated. I only ask as the
specific gas mix is named in a few of the incidents.
