I suspect that the term "air" is used as generic. You have to remember that the BSAC is fundamentally a recreational diving organisation. "BSAC dives" are those up to 50m and involving no more than 20 minutes of deco in any one day. Despite rejecting Nitrox initially, BSAC then adopted it. It has not adopted Helium-based mixtures. So, a 50m air dive would be within the range permitted by BSAC.
