I have just subscribed to the techdiver mailing list and I am posting this message to introduce myself. I have been diving for 15 years and have an instructor certification (NASDS OWI), although I have not instructed for about 7 years and hope never to again. My main pratical interest in techdiving is related to cave diving, I am a member of the Cave Diving Association of Australia (CDAA) with penetration diver certification and dive actively in the south east of South Australia and the Nullarbor plain area. In the past I have been an active wreck diver while living on the east coast of the US, and will continue this if ever living somewhere appropriate. Techdiver techniques related to deep diving, such as mixed gas scuba are in their infancy in Australia. Some associates and I are making our first steps (successsful) in this area and I believe we are amongs the first in the country, Australian readers may be able to correct me. I am therefore interested in information related to cave diving and mixed gas (particularly trimix) scuba. I am a physiologist working at the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, University of Adelaide. I have a long standing interest in many aspects of Hyperbaric Medicine, particularly those related to decompression schedules and decompression ilness. I am also a Diving Medical Technician, trained at the Hyperbaric Medicine Unit, Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, University of Adelaide. However, my opinions and diving practices are my own, and are unrelated to my professional associations.
