Beyond 2000 on the discovery channel had a story about a bionic dolphin
created by technical artist Tom 
Rowe and Dennis Kaiser.  Although the dolphin was driven by a prop type
engine it was a submersible 
unit.  The engine utilized an air bladder system to keep it going  while
diving.  The Bionic dolphin was 
complete with flippers for steering and a blow hole.  The show said you will
see it on a beach near you in 
about 3 years.
