I have seen evidence of this in a dive buddy. We made a slow but direct accent from 20' after a thorough deco and he suffered the consequences. I have since adopted the practice of adding 3min safety stops at 15', 10' & 5' with very good results. Of course, we always do surface deco appropriate for the dive.
