Hidetaka, (Guess that is your first name since you live in the States), I find it very interesting what you described. Never having been to Japan myself, I met both guest researchers at our lab and one lady who moved to Germany. Actually, I went diving with her twice. She is 7 inches shorter than me, a tiny girl you might say, and she has been the only person so far with a significantly better breathing rate. I'm still impressed. We had bad conditions and she wasn't used to it (<2 ft viz, tide + current, cold, "deep" for her), so eventually she took my hand which made me stop our descent and lead her to shallower areas. I'm always happy when people do that rather than pushing their limits. She doesn't smoke nor drink, BTW. There is a saying that there are two kinds of Japanese divers: really good ones and really bad ones. It's a pity that they don't have access to the good stuff. (They should do it like me and move ;-) - okay, that's awkward.) Claudia -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
