Dos this point relate to the "shape" of the deco?

You've mentioned the shape (curve) of the deco being important, and that
once you know the shape, you can shift it around (modify it) to
accommodate different dives.

How does one compute the shape? How is it adjusted for different dives?
What effect does bottom gas choice (more or less He) have on this?
