Hi Ronnie, I don't do many postings because of the time it takes to type....I'm not a speed typist !! On Tue, 10 Jan 1995 08:33:15 -0500 (EST) Ronnie Bell wrote: > Ahhhhh .. It seems pretty inevitable to me that you are going to carry a spare cylinder or two mounted on the side. In addition to wanting to carry extra gas to allow a gas switch to a denser diluent to reduce deco times, a 2 litre on board cylinder of breathable diluent, perhaps half empty or more from previous dives but still good for several hours more closed circuit diving (together with on board oxygen) just isn't going to last very long in open circuit mode if the 'shit hits the fan'...particularly below 50 metres...! An extra cylinder would be linked into the gas switching block & could be routed into the rebreather, but could also carry an extra open circuit regulator for a buddy in distress. You would need to work out the minimum size of this cylinder pretty carefully to ensure either you or your buddy in distress can make the surface, including any deco stops. One thing for sure...buddy breathing with your rebreather mouthpiece is *not* going to work out ...! :-) Regards, Steve M. ************************************************************************** * * * * Dr. S.
