OK George, you are right, BUT, 99.9% of the time when I am hanging
for deco, I am attached to the surface or the bottom. Sure, a Jon
line can help, but it is an indirect attachment to the bottom via
the mooring line. Drifting deco beneath a lift bag (full of problems),
I'm attached to the surface. Hanging on the anchor line, bottom.
Floating freely in the water column with no attachment, good luck
surfacing near the boat if there is any current present. I am open
to suggestions.

Note: forwarded message attached.

The only way your depth guage could change as the waves go over is if
you are holding onto somthing fixed to the surface or the bottom.
