I have used a Suunto vyper for the last month.

It can be used as a bottom timer[gauge mode]: displays present depth, maximum
depth, elapsed dive time, present time of day, temperature, and ascent rate
indicator.
Maximum operating depth is 150msw/492fsw, recommended max is 100msw/328fsw.
Maximum recording time 999 minutes for diving

It can be used as an air computer or as a nitrox computer[EAN21-50, in 1%
increments].Only one gas can be specified for a dive.
Can be used to 300m/100f above sea level.
In air or nitrox mode, computer does not work as deep as in gauge mode.

Tissue calculation uses RGBM algorithm (Suunto/Wienke), is conservative,
wants 10mps/33fps ascent rate. Uses 9 compartments, from 2.5 to 480 minutes.
You can choose ppO2 (1.2 to 1.6), with 1.4 as default.

Good points: 3 button interface (no licking), no PC needed to program.
Clear display, good backlight.
Caveats: MUST choose operation mode (gauge, air, nitrox) prior to first dive
of series - CANNOT change till 24or48 hrs after last dive. Not a huge problem
if one PLANS dives.
IF computer is violated, computer will lockup. However, Gauge mode info
continues,

Other: supposedly has good data storage ability like Spyder. However, i have
not used it this feature.

Overall: i like it.
