I would endorse all that Esat Atikkan has to say in his post.  I would =
also add that for all divers who consider that they think before diving =
(and I think that this would especially include the WKPP people) that I =
would not rush off to have a PFO test.  You should all read and =
understand the logic behind A.A. (Fred) Bove's analysis of the PFO =
problem and what it means to divers that was published recently in =
Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine (volume 25, number 3, 1998, pages =
175-8).  Once you have done this, you will be in a much better position =
to judge whether to spend your $300 on such a test or whether to go out =
and spend it on something else.  Bayesian analysis is very powerful, =
especially when applied to this sort of problem.
