Thanks for your candid answer, I don't have any problems with you it's
what Gary said in his books.What he printed it in his books are lies for
everyone to see. and that's not good for anyone, the dive industry takes a
bashing everytime something happens without Gary telling lies. If Gary had
printed the truth we would'nt be doing this.. HE HAS AN OBLIGATION TO PRINT
THE TRUTH? if he writing History and what he wrote is wron and is called
Artistic writting. Gary attacked almost every boat captain he sailed with in
his book, wait for your turn. Gary was thinking no one had a way to answer
his allegations and he was wrong when I get through with this issues it will
stay posted forever. The way Gary writes he acts like he Clark Kent and
Superman, tardar here I am SUPER GARY. I still have some of the wire cable
that came off of Ornsby and it doesn't have any hack saw marks on it. Along
with the two videos shot that day. Gary made you believe he was the one that
thought of tieing a rope with clips to Ornsby, he wasnt I was thinking how do
I explain to the Coast guard I lost the victim and guess what Garys clip bent
on his lift bag and Ornsby went straight down attached to the anchor and all
the crew was out of time and I asked one of Billy friend to resend Ornsby
up. Call Neal Watson and ask his the way it went down with Ornsby recovery
Billy Campbell, the diver that drifted away from the Wahoo and it was
his own fault, not the Wahoo's or it crew of which Gary so quickly forgot he
was one of (maybe he was asleep then as usual) . If the swim line was not
deployed it would have been the crews fault and he was one of the crew but
there was a swim line out. (I have a video that was shot on the Wahoo after
Billy return that Chris Dillon shot and a second one that Billy Campbell and
I shot for a re-inactment at the dock) After Billy told me the story, I gave
Billy Campbell my personal gear harness that he uses to this day. Captain
Donnie Schnell was standing watch at the stern with his back to the ladder
watching the swim line for divers returning, Billy let go of the anchor line
underwater after finishing his deco and swam submerged under the Wahoo trying
to put his camera line over his head, (no place to clip it off) when he
surfaced he was 20 or 30 feet behind the stern and seen Donnie there, never
called out for help. He then ducked back underwater to swim to the ladder
only to be carried further away by the strong current and out of ear shot of

The Italians is another issue, there were 5 people involved plus Janet
throughout the entire incident. Joel Silverstein, Hank Garvin, Billy Deans,
John Moyer and Janet Bieser. The story can go anyway the person that reads it
wants it to go. Moyer Billy and Gary had there own agenda to find the Bell.
There concern was how to get to the bow and if they had a problem with Billy
scooter they needed the inflatable. Janet said "you go fuck yourselves the
Italians are OK they aren't leaving the anchor line" and they all had 50 feet
of PINK swim line to attach to the anchor not to get lost.
If you hadn't posted what you had read in Gary book I would have not had
the opportunity to address they issues.
In running a large dive boat we have enough thing happen that are true
not to bash the dive boat community with lies. You don't even realize that
indirectly Gary shooting at all dive boat operators, in reading his boat he
just about call us all in comperdents and he's the only one that know what to
do.
Gary did'nt tell you that when larry Keen cancelled his Monitor trip at
the last minute, he called me just about crying "Steve what do I do we don't
have a boat to get to the Monitor" and after I told him what to do and
brought all the grond tackel and buoys we got to dive the Monitor in 1990.
This was a six year battle that I was part of since 1984 when Gary asked me
to join the dive team and also one of the expert wittnesses at the trial
along with Hal Watts, Billy Deans, Ceil Connelly and Gary with Peter Hess as
attorney. Gary never won this on his own, he did pay for it.
keep checking my web site for all the updates on the saga of Gary
Gentilie and the Wahoo. I also have copies of the letters Gary and Captain
George Hoffman wrote, with Gary accusing George of only want to make money
running his dive boat (well the nerve of george want to make money for
tranporting divers) and not just taking diver out because he loved diving.
Gary carrying a lot of baggage around and he not dumping it on me because he
a shallow person.

added things to it when they told him , John also told him he would enjoy

To the point , John has said I may quote him on this if it ever came up, as
he will not post himself , he is a lurker.
To him the main point to the story is true , meaning its does not matter if
it was the trail line , chase boat , or any other function of the
boat.Since you already have posted it on your web site I feel it is Ok to
post it now.
The fact that Janet said she did not care if the Italians died as long as
it happen when they're off her boat , they're on their own, is the
point.John Moyer said that it happen and was true.
At that point we both agreed the best thing would be to just let it go away
, as things on techdiver have a week or two of life and fade away.
I had no plan to ever bring it up again , on the boat last Sunday a diver
ask me why my name was on the wahoo web site , I did not know about it , so
I looked and there is this covering it all.I still would not have said
anything but , I got an email from JIM Cobb that I thought was private and
replied to it asking him if he had seen it , VBtech has no approve to be
done so it went to all and I could not stop it.He in turn loves to get
things going and answered only on VBtech it is a small list sever but you
are on it.
But now you have put it on techdiver which goes to alot , which I will
answer.
I always feel when I come out here I am armed with the truth , sometimes I
may be misinformed and will correct these things if I can.This is one
reason I am able to put up with Georges crap.
As for Gary , I know Gary , have dived with Gary , what do I think of Gary
, thats my opinion and I will keep it to myself.
I will say this , as I have tried to write stories for my web site to help
others not make the same mistakes as I have seen , lessons are learned from
those that have done it, seen it , still do it.I get permission from the
divers I write about and yes they all do not think what I see is what
really happen , some of my stories do not make print as these people I
consider my friends and they do not wish to be written about good or bad.I
have been called an asshole by my own friends before and we are still
friends.They just do not wish to be in the light and so I spare them the
pen if they ask.
No two people will ever see the same thing when it comes to details in a
story , thats really true if it is something nasty or cast a bad shadow on
them.
But to let you know the score here , out of the 4 people that heard this ,
2 said it happen , Janet says it didn't , the only one not to have said
anything is Billy Deans.I do not think he will come out to answer this.
