When I read one of the early posts about praying for war, I felt
uncomfortable with the statement, but only because I cannot relate to that
mindset. I did not serve in any division of the armed forces, but as I get
older I appreciate (that word is not strong enough) what all members of the
US armed forced do and did for me, my family, America, and really the world.
There are millions of extraordinary people putting their lives in danger
every day for people they do not know and will never know. Why? I could
not even try and answer that.

Does any one really believe that if it weren't for The Unites States that
the Berlin Wall would have come down. It's been 10 years, did anyone else
cry when it happened? Believe it or not, the world would be far more
dangerous if The Unites States was not so military. Lets remember history
for a minute, the European people cheered Presiden Wilson when The United
States helped end WWI. He tried for peace with the League of Nations, but
the European community could not stop bickering, and the League was so
worthless when the Eurpoean countries were done that he wanted nothing to do
with it and did not sign on. The United States tried staying out of WWII,
but Germany and Japan had other ideas. How many hundreds of thousands of
American service people gave their lives to fight a war they had no real
investment in. How many Americans were tortured as POW's in the South
Pacific.

Now we have had to deal with the former Yugoslavia. How long was the
European community going to stand by and allow Milosovich to kill people
because they believe in a different God? I am proud that America had the
courage to do something about it.

Yesterday (Veteran's Day) one of my friends mentioned that we do not give
Veteran's Day it's proper signifigance. That is very true, however,
Memorial Day has a higher level of signifigance, and all it really signifies
now is the start of Summer.
