As many of you know, Underwater Applications has been involved in a number
of dive computer development projects. We wrote the decompression and oxygen
tracking portions of the software used in a number of dive computers now on
the market. We are currently looking for a part-time/contract software
engineer for an upcoming project. We need an experienced assembly language
programmer. The processor that we are using currently is a 4bit single chip
microcomputer, but it is likely that the customer will move to an 8 bit
processor this project. So the requirements are:

- Assembly language programmer
- Some knowledge of decompression theory or ability and willingness to
learn.
- Geographical location doesn't matter but within North America is preferred
for time zone and meeting convenience

Pay will be appropriate for contract engineering work, although not
competitive with Boston, MA area contract engineering work. Time required
would be about 10 hours per week; previous software engineers worked on this
at night and during weekends with no major hassles. The project will
probably run 3-6 months. A trip to Boston for a meeting with me and the
customer is likely; a trip to Japan is also a possibility.

It's very cool work, for a very nice customer. It's one of the few areas
where you can make a good amount of money (on a per hour basis) in the dive
business. Later you get to see the fruits of your labor when you and your
buddies (and people you don't know) are diving the computer you helped
design.

Sincerely,
C. Randy Bohrer
