Dave, you wrote: > A similar example is a wreck diver showing up for cave > diving without modifying his gear, and the same can be > said for a cave diver showing up for a day of wreck diving. We do not 'modify' our gear other then adding another backup light or two and a couple of reels when going from ow to cave or wreck. One of the big advantages of DIR is that you are constantly conditioned how to use a certain setup when you always use the same. Even for you that reasoning must contain some form of logic... Taking this further you will find even more logic when we all start using the same setup, now we are even conditioned on how to use our buddy's gear without thinking... Dave, it amazes me that when a system such as DIR is presented to you that you refuse to accept it's simplicity. When you fail to see the simplicity and the sound logic behind the DIR system, then you are just ignoring your own common sense. Reasons for this are usually that you want to show off on the diveboat with your CCR rig...or you like people asking "you don't need a bc?" to which you reply "haven't needed one the past 25 years and last 100.000 dives". Dave you are the laughing stock of diving, but one of the problems I see is that you actually find an audience.
