>or next thing you know this rudder-device-adding bonehead would >be dropping celebrity names the way he seems compelled to boast >about "his" mig Yeah, I'd have to read you the list of people I have carried in the Gulfstream before I went to work for Dassault, but you'd probably gag when I told you how I earned the US Presidential cuff-links that I wear (he was retired when I got them, not claiming to have flown Air Force 1, and he -didn't- fall down the ladder of -our- airplane.. ;-) He was a nice guy, though. And a good golfer. Let's see: I carried Al Pacino to his lifetime achievement award ceremony, and took Tony Bennet to Frank Sinatra's 80th birthday party from Atlantic City to LA. Got to go to the party as his guest, Hmmm... November 19th, 1995. My backstage pass to the show is serial number 0990. Got it hanging over the desk. Go look that up too. Used to carry Demi Moore from Teterboro to Sun Valley Idaho, with a fuel stop coming back at North Platte Nebraska. (she looks like any other 30-ish woman shen she's in a T-shirt, BTW. And her dog used to piss on the tire of the Gulfstream). Gotta be carefull, eh? never know what insult may end up making ya look like a fool. Hollywood, indeed. What nonsense. Ya just never know, do ya?? >so, you "own" this mig do you? S/N 1C-1705, US Reg# N1705 to be exact. But no bother, it's the -17th- military jet that I've owned. Look 'em up. >it must be very special to own a >mig - and, to repeat myself, to be such an aeronautical >engineering genius that you feel safe and qualified to start >welding crap to it as improvements... Life is good! It pleases me. Holding an A&P (airframe and powerplant) license from the FAA helps too, as does access to all of the military support that I require. . >yea, you go right ahead and weld extra devices to "your" mig and >that should save us the bother of filtering your inane messages >to this forum Not so sure about that. Been running them since 1984. First from China and then from Russia, Hungary, and Poland. USN Test Pilots school PAX River and International Test Pilots School Woodford England seem to like 'em, since they both lease time in them. PS: We rivet, not weld. the rumors about the MiG being steel is not true, at least for the 17 and 21. Have fun in Quatar. Much technical diving out there in the desert? Probably good diving within a reasonable commute to the Red Sea. Best regards (really!), Dave Sutton -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
