>When someone else manages to start putting together a track record on >complex dives that begins to approach what the WKPP does on an absolutely >routine basis, with a safety record comparable to what the WKPP has, then >I'll listen to them, too. When you work on a dive boat for 25+ years that specializes in deep wreck diving and have boat manifests available that show in excess of 25,000 divers with -zero- deaths, -zero- serious accidents, and -zero- DCS cases requiring chamber treatment, then come talk to me. With a record like that, although I appreciate the safety record of the WKPP guys, they have nothing on us. With all respect to the stats, we did have one guy die: Of a stroke. He would have died that day at home too...... The WKPP does -very- specialized diving. So do we. Ours is not greater , nor is it lesser. -Some- of the techniques are interchangable, but -most- are not. I'm not going to sit and let George and his syncophants run roughshod over the experience that we have gained in our decades of experience and experimentation. Just come on up and try your gin-clear water techniques while diving in faceplate vis, 34 degree temps, 10 foot seas while deco, and wearing 3 finger dry mitts. Maybe some -mutual- respect would be in order. I do not comment on the cave divers techniques, not do I ridicule those using those techniques. But similarly, ya'll don;t have -much- to teach us that we have not figured out already. Whe we -do- learn something new, we all run to change to that better way. But we do it -politely- and -nicely- and we all play in the same sandbox without bullying each other. What do you think: That -everyone- is a hero-worshiping amatuer here? There is some real talent, only -most- of it walks away rather than take the abuse. Most of the -real- divers I know spurn the word 'tech-diver' because it's identified with gear-buying wannabes. It's funny, but among the 25 or so divers that I respect most due to watching them dive for years and years, -none- of them are on this list. The few that looked it over soon unsubscribed, calling it a zoo unworthy of their participation. This is -your- loss, not theirs. Remember: This is not a competative sport. It's supposed to be -fun-. Try to keep that in mind. Another good rule would be to not write here what you would not say to a man face-to-face. Frankly, I am not sure that too many of the whackos here would be so brave......
