I am wondering why it has to cost $1000 for your Normoxic Trimix =
course? IANTD requires several dives to ensure you can dive with trimix =
.. In my opinion most of these dives can be disregarded if you can show =
(or can have references showing) you are a competent diver (skilled in =
decompression theory, equipment task loading, etc...). Diving to 200' =
on trimix is not any different than doing a staged deco dive to 130' on =
air. The skills required are the same. The equivalent narcosis is the =
same. The equipment should, at least, be similar (i.e. doubles, stages, =
etc...). =20
Advanced nitrox is a prerequisite for the course which consist of =
staged decompression theory, so why go over it again and again. Of =
course there is a few pages of new theory to be learned, so I can =
understand the cost of a manual and instructor cost. But to take an =
already competent diver to 200' using a mix with an EAD of 130', just =
to watch him swim around, is wasteful. The theory is what is important =
here. Linear depth is irrelevant. =20
Since we took our first scuba class, there have been rules to =
follow. Subsequent courses have consisted of more rules. If you break =
the rules, regardless if you're at 200' or 130', you die. My suggestion =
is to get these classes more affordable and available to divers who want =
to learn. Get them away from diving deep air and stupid diving, and =
make trimix the norm. Why $1000? Could it be greed?
