The victims have a monument erected to them. A number of dive magazines have run articles outlining the tragic circumstances of the sinking. I don't think pillaging their grave site qualifies as "preservation through recovery" and anyway, let's face it what divers remove just ends up sitting in their back yard for 6 months until they can be bothered to clean and then it sits in their house somewhere - hardly a fitting testamony to their memory.
