For real brass balls try this site: http://fastband.com/~ratucker/ It has the story of the salvage of the S-51 in the early 20's. They did air dives to 130-140' for 3-4 HOURS. This was before He mixes were even thought of. The story was written by Edward Ellsberg and published in the book "On the Bottom" in 1928. Ellsberg also worked on the salvage of the S-4 and was on call for the Squalus. Ellsberg also invented the first effective underwater cutting torch and helped develop the back blast water nozzles for using fire hoses to dig into mud and sand. Some of the things they did working outside and inside of the S-51 in Mark V gear is just freighting.
