Ordinarily, this sort of noise (e-mail discussions that are more
appropriately conducted privately, rather than on the list) I tend to
ignore, but the excerpt above caught my attention.  This list is a
special interest discussion list, but it does serve an important
educational function to some extent, and the no-holds barred attitude
of this list should not IMO prevent the dissemination of information to
those who want it.  I appeal to all of the new participants and lurkers
on the list to not withold questions for fear of "flaming".  There's no
avoiding getting hammered on here, so take it with a grain of salt. 
The only stupid question is one you don't ask.
