Hi all, Firstly may I introduce myself as an aspiring (i.e. not "technical" at the moment) technical diver, my experience so far has been confined to <40m single tank air diving and I currently gaining more experience before persuing a nitrox course. My questions are 1.) Does anyone know of an online reference source for raw physiological research data WRT diving (i.e. saturation/ gas toxicity/narcosis impairment/bubble formation etc..) 2.) What in your oppinions is the best way to get into tech diving (with a view to deep wreck / wreck penetration) Below is my 2p worth which is WRT deep air diving, my comment is obviously not backed up by experience of deep air (or mix) diving. It appears to me that the people doing this form of diving are highly experienced divers who must therefore be acutely aware of the risks involved and personally I feel that at the end of the day it is their safety they are risking. It must be up to the individual to decide. As for others emulating them, I think any person who has completed even a basic diving course should have sufficient knowledge (and respect for the oceans) to know not to do it. To draw a parallel, a novice rock climber would not go out and try to solo a climb which a more experienced climber is comfortable climbing with no equipment. On the other hand, not many experienced climbers would be happy soloing hard climbs in slippers when they could be using climbing boots. At the end of the day the onus is on anyone involved in training to educate, not dictate. Thanks for taking the time to read my mail and I hope that any replies will be constructive happy diving Andy Crichton -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
