Tod, the problem is that you can not "feel" the narcosis at the shallower depths - this makes it so much more dangerous, but yes, the impairment is enough at 40 feet to make you consistently lose at chess to the guy at 0 feet. The point is that the gas is no good for diving, and the deeper you take it the worse it gets. The fact that IANTD thinks they can "teach" deep air diving is petently ludicrous.
