Right, ranting won't work either. In fact, probably nothing will, as it's hard to stop anyone from doing something they really think they want to do, and they will do it the way they see instructors and more experienced tech divers doing it around them. Ranting will, however, make those exemplars refuse to use any DIR methods out of defensiveness and spite. Ranting is also the reason there are so many lurkers and so few regular posters to the list; it's just not worth the abuse. The correct approach would be for DIR divers to write a book and promote that; a couple of unscripted amateur videos aren't enough. But "trey" would have to give up his favorite hobby then...
