George, please excuse my abject stupidity and my need for a more detailed 
explanation -- I am still learning. I am currently staging al 40's (and 
have noticed, as you pointed out, that they float butt up).
When you say "clip the nose to your hip ring," do you mean that the bottom 
of the bottle is not clipped anywhere at all? How long, then, should the 
regulator hose be on the bottle so I can breathe from it normally?

On a related topic (now that I have your ear), I am about to re-rig my 
stage bottles with SS clips. They are currently rigged with a strap running 
down the length of the bottle with a clip at each end, as shown in the 
diagram at http://www.gue.com/equipment/tanks-4.html. What is the purpose 
of the strap? Would it be incorrect to simply attach the bottom clip to the 
hose clamp by a piece of cave line or thick bungee and attach the top clip 
with cave line or bungee around the neck and omit the strap? Could you 
please explain?
