JT, let's just go to the meat here. Forget whether the guy was qualified, in shape, or any other subjective measurements. 1) Did he have a plan and a buddy? 2) Did he have his bottles marked properly , or did he not and breathe the wrong gas resulting in a tox (AKA "heart attack" ). 3)Was his dive rig a mess including steel stages and other clumsiness? JT, you could slow down the bullshit by requiring a few simple things of these people. The rest of the crowd, such as your pal Christina, are just screaming examples of idiocy in my opinion, and have the web sites with the pictures and the alligator mouths to prove it. That is a different subject. These people merely serve as powers of example of what is wrong in diving. You , on the other hand, are guilty of sitting back and letting these goons screw up on your watch. Put your foot down. You don't have to enforce what I would enforce, but you sure can go to your PADI Open Water One book and enforce the first two pages ( buddy, dive your plan, etc), and do not tell me these people are pros - that is not even close. By the way , JT, I do not dream all of this stuff up myself. I run the WKPP, but my "dogs" conspire to produce everything we think and do . They are some seriously smart and talented dogs. Who do you think I learn from? In fact, the guys you all hate to hear from the most are my most close and trusted buddies above and below water.
