Ron,

    This is true but I thought the last of those old Dive Rite lights
where in the historical diving societies vaults. Personaly I would be
more concerned about blowing out that flat rectangular washer rather
than running out of primary burn time. 
    I believe JJ sells the HID with a bulb, gavin head/a goodman style
grip and a pig tail for just over $600.00. Adapt away.
