---- Begin oorspronkelijk bericht---- Whats a good cannister light? What size battery and what wattage bulb is reccomended? This will be primarily a wreck light. Which is more desirable, longer burn time or bulb brightness? AUL, Dive Rite, OMS......who makes a good one? -- Christopher, Donna For wreck diving, 50 watts max looks to be OK. preferably a light with the possibility of changing the wattage underwater. If viz is OK, bigger wattages can be used but is viz deteriorates, this creates lots of backscatter. So settle for 50 watts max. Burn time of about 100 to 180 minutes should suffice. Small lighthead with wide beam. I use a Hartenberger 128 cell tank which is 50 watts, has a LK3 head and is switchable between 100-75-50-25 of max output. It has a 90 cm or 130 cm cord and can be attached either to your belt or to the backplate or tanks, whatever suits you. I can do about 3 dives of 50 minutes with it, without recharging. Hartenberger is German so could be rather expensive in US. It is indestructable though. I bought it econdhand and it's still going strong. (http://www.hartenberger.de/english/indexd2.htm) They also make smaller lights The new wreck light from Diver-Rite (http://www.lamartek.com/diverite/products/whatsnew/wreklite.htm) looks ok but has smaller wattage and burn-time. So you will need to buy an extra battery if on sea for the whole day. I'm sure Extreme Exposure (http://www.extreme-exposure.com/lights1.shtml), AUL and the likes also have interesting offers too. have fun choosing! rgrds Adri KC Haine aka: darkangel@en*.co* (www based) ahaine@ce*.be* (non www based) "All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream" Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) ..
