Subject: RE: How much buoancy to Halcyon Explorer?

Isn't the bouyancy thing as simple as this?

1. Get in your backyard pool nekkid and record how much weight you need
to sink you.
2. Put on your dry suit, without undergarments, and record the
additional weight necessary to sink you.
3. Put on your undergarment with the dry suit, and record how much
weight it takes to sink you.
4. Figure out how much additional weight it takes to sink each of your
wetsuits.
5. Record the bouyancy characteristics of your equipment (lights, etc.)

After doing this, and making appropriate conversions (the 62.4/64 thing)
shouldn't one be able to calculate the weight necessary for a dive?
Depending on your garb, simply calc the weight needed in addition to the
"full tank bouyancy" and then add, in weights, the differential between
a full tank and an empty tank. The tank info is readily available from
several sources on the net.

Therefore:

6 pounds to sink me (need to work on the lean/fat thing)
12 pounds to sink the drysuit (this and the next one are
guesses, just got the drysuit and ain't been in the pool)
8 pounds to sink the undergarments.
	Full tank = -6 pounds empty tank = -1 pound - add 5 pounds
Backplate = -6 pounds	subtract six pounds.
Manifolds, d rings, fins subract two pounds

Ergo, wear 23 pounds between the Vweights, Pweights and
waistweights.
