hank , while the story about the dive from the accident report sounds like a horrifick cluster . the trimix diver who got the snot bent out of himself did one thing right ....he showed up at the surface ....still breathing the whole thing could have been much worse for example he could have tryed to get fancy and dropped back to the bottom and been out of anything breathable at depth or the two air divers and him all in a giant tangle..... drowned...... laying on the bottom somewhere .And never been found. rememer that guy found on top of the hull of the san diego tangled in ascent line ? remember john dudas ? remember that guy on the oregon found out of gas in a pile of emergency ascent line ? i bet if he opted to just surface al's crew may have saved him with a quick rescue and some pure o2 and a helocopter ride. some times it's time to go while you still can.... it is best to remember that very bad missed deco is often survivable but once you drown nothing can be done . -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
