Hi list...
As customary for new entries, I greet all You and spend few
self-introductory words. I am Italian and live in Rome; needless to say, I
am a very avid diver. As for my background, I am ph.d. in engineering; on an
hand my interests lie mainly in cave and wreck diving. On the other
hand, I am very interested in deco modeling since when I started using
trimix there were no planners available. I had to calculate tables by
myself; surprisingly (as for me), the interest in this field and those
related (physiology and so on) grew and now I am still very entangled in the
above topics. All this is not for saying that I keep in the corner all the
practical aspects of diving! As for certifications, the one I am most
"proud" for, is assistant instructor of the "Italian school for cave
diving"; this is due mainly to my love for spelaeology and mountaineering
also (climbing and so on...). Truly, I think that the most extraordinary
things happen always when mixing disparate and apparently unrelated
components, in this case earth and water.
As for diving, central Italy is not the best place in some respects.
There are few ready-to-dive wrecks and the most beautiful and impressing
caves are in the north and in Sardinia (both about 300 miles far from
home!). In any case, many sites are still worth the visit and the key for
happiness is to be satisfied with the available...
A "technical note" for ending. I understand that my English is extremely
clumsy, since I speak it seldom and I had to learn by myself only in its
written form (papers and articles). I apologize for this and hope to be
understandable beyond the obvious problems that every non-naive speaker is
likely to experience.
I am convinced that mailing lists are important means to "grow", and I
am happy for being here. I hope to find new friends (and I greet some old
friends since I know they are here) and, again, heartily greetings to all
the members. I hope to be welcome.
