Al, That's the one. Just a warning before everybody head off looking for it in the store, it is expensive. It was ~$100 in Norway with the 23% sales tax included, so expect to pay from ~$70 and up in the US. Or may be it is just more expensive in Norway like everything else :-) Anyway, based on my personal experience, it is bomb-proof. I have this strobe going on 3 years now (400+ dives), and have set my steel twin on it numerous times in Norway. One time I used it on a wreck dive, I had it tied to the anchor line. By the time I got back to the line, the chain was swaying very badly from the swells on surface banging the strobe against the side of the metal wreck. It was still working. One of the divers approached the anchor line to go up, the chain moved, bashed against his chest and broke his Apeks inflator/octopus reg. I don't have the Tektite strobe, but I also have the other round strobe (with C-battery) where you rotate the bottom ring to activate. It is inexpensive and work very well if I take good care of it, but if I have to depend on a strobe for any reason, I would pick the Jotron. Again, this is all from my personal experience, so yours might be different. Also, I didn't 'test' it to 500m, so I can't tell you anything about its depth rating. The deepest I ever took mine was only 92m. Hope you find a nice strobe, Phi > ---------- > From: ajmarve@ba*.ne*[SMTP:ajmarve@banet.net] > Reply To: ajmarve@ba*.ne* > Sent: Monday, April 19, 1999 2:15 AM > To: Phi Le > Cc: jb179; 'Art Greenberg'; techdiver@aquanaut.com > Subject: Re: strobes was Re: Gear for sale > > Phi, > > Thanks for the tip Are you using the aq-4? i see on the web site they > rate it for 500m, what experience do you have with it???
