L.s.,

Having followed the debates on the caver list, I would like to know what people
think about the following method for marking tanks with MOD:

I have one set of double 7L tanks marked with an MOD of 30 . The hottest mix
EVER in those tanks will be EanX 40 which gives a ppO2 of 1.6 at 30 metres. The
USUAL mix in those tanks varies between EanX 32 and EanX 38.
There is a plastic tag on the tank neck with the exact FO2 on it, date, etc.. .
(as per IANTD standard ;-)

Another set of double 10L tanks are marked with an MOD of 40. This means the
hottest mix EVER to go in those tanks will be EanX 32 which gives a ppO2 of 1.6
at 40 metres. There is a plastic tag on the tank neck with the exact FO2 on it,
date, etc...Most dives with the double 10s are done with EanX 23 to EanX 30
mixes.

I would like to add here that for myself, the max ppO2 I use for planning
purposes on a dive is 1.3. I mix accordingly.

The MOD is there to caution my buddies, if I'm deeper than the MOD, there is
something wrong!

Also,if I need to dive deeper than 40 metres, I will either get another set of
doubles for that purpose or change the MOD on the double 10s.

The MOD markings are made as per GUE method as viewable on their website. BIG
lettering and viewable for all.

Is this method acceptable?
