While the list seems to like to bash stuff -- its evident from many of the posts that heresay takes precedent over facts -- so here are some facts regarding my oms manifolds One uses an OMS manifold with captured o-ring on OMS tanks with OMS tank bands. You torque the valve in place, you adjust the bands for the right height all on a flat level surface -- you then tighten the cross bar section and then lock down the bands. It does not take rocket science to do this --- guess what ? They stay fine -- I have been using OMS manifolds on 8 sets of tanks since the first batch came to states. Not a SINGLE Failure. They have been dropped, banged, stacked, tossed into trucks, slid across a boat deck in the middle of the Atlantic, been to the WilkesBare, Doria, Republic, Monitor and a few other places ... Here is the key to using most anything. Use all the correct parts. You must use the 8" bands for the 8 inch tanks, the 6.9-7.5 for the 6.9-7.25 tanks -- there is a welded spacer on the bands to keep them from key stoning -- if you use a different band they dont work -- just like if you use the wrong band on any manifold A few pointers and this applies to ALL tank sets on the tank bands --- the bolt that you mount the back plate to --- set the depth of that bolt -- then double nut the rod to the band -- Aircraft Nut - flat washer BAND lock washer Nut ---------BAND lock washer NUT this will keep the rod from spinning when you lock the bands in place --- after a long drive or a few days on a boat -- put a ratchet to the bands the vibrations will sometimes loosen the nuts --- cant have your nuts loose ya know ..... btw -- i also have diverite and Sherwood manifolds -- they all work fine .......
