Brian My views on the universal use of Nitrox comes from close involvement in IANTD along with discussions with the HSE and medical people, in particular Dr Maurice Cross from DDRC. The bottom line is that the HSE are at present re-writing the regulations and will allow the use of Nitrox inshore. This has come from comparisons made between the number of DCI hits offshore (where Nitrox is used) compared to the number of inshore DCI hits (where Nitrox is not currently used). The hard facts speak for themselves. Maurice Cross delights in lecturing about disecting divers and reporting on tissue/nerve damage + degradation due to bubble formation of varying degrees. If he says that the use of Nitrox is THE BIGGEST THING TO BENEFIT DIVING SINCE THE INTRODUCTION OF OXYGEN ADMINISTRATION then that is fine by me. Best regards Chris P.S I am perhaps being cynical in my 're-invent the wheel' comment. Historically the BSAC have over the years been anti - stab jackets, dive computers and oxygen administration. Now they claim to be the driving force behind their introduction and education. I somehow feel a case of deja-vue!. PPS As regards Tech-Talk - watch this space!. Anybody else out there thing a tech-diving information type magazine (other that Aquacorps guys!). would have a place?
