To be fair you ought to compare the AUL Spectrum 100 to the EE units. The 
100 incorporates all of the features of the EE light with the exception 
of the bulkhead and shatter proof housing. A bulkhead is not needed with 
an acrylic housing. Also the 100 has a metal lighthead and I believe the 
EE is made out of plastic but I don't know if this makes any difference 
lighting-wise. It can be had for $395 vs. $499. 

I agree that the unbreakable cannister is a big plus in boat diving (or 
any kind of diving) if you tend to toss your gear around. In my case I 
broke one cannister and learned my lesson. It's not that a big deal to 
secure your light while on the boat. Anyway the EE won't really be 
wrecker-proof until they can find away to get rid of the extremely 
fragile test-tube in the lighthead.
