You jumped in with a long, involved answer which, on the face of it, may have given the impression that you actually knew what you were talking about. When it was reasonably suggested that your knowledge base might be less than useful, you defended your limited knowledge from the point of view that "I read it on the Decom box so it MUST be true." These people are telling you don't know anything about decompression, not because you don't do their 12 hour dives but because you hold and broadcast the dangerous assumption that your pre-packaged, store-bought, software- generated solution MUST be the RIGHT solution. So, instead of defending that 'implementation of the deep stop algorithm' nonsense you were pontificating about, why not do what hundreds of us have done. Go away. Do your research. Read the books, look at the schedules, read about bubble mechanics. Read what the WKPP divers have to say. Come back. Ask lots of questions, synthesise an answer and introduce it, step by step, into your diving, carefully noting how you feel after each dive, and adjusting it so it works for YOU. (And if you bend the snot out of yourself, do let us know). And you don't have to do 12 hour exposures to benefit from this advice. I add a run of deep stops to a vanilla Buehlmann ZH-L12 schedule, DON'T calculate them into the deco, and shorten the shallow stops. It works for me (and only me) on the bounce dives I do - 150 to 300 ft ocean dives with 20 - 25 minute bottom times. And only as part of a whole decompression regimen that involves fitness and the right decompression gasses including 50/50. And none of that bullshit 80/20. Unfortunately, the ultimate decompression method will probably prove as elusive as the Ultimate Diet Plan. You've got to work it out for yourself. >Just yesterday I was doing >two technical dives where I had the opportunity to speak >with some of the member of this list. Anyone who is genuinely too sensitive to ask questions on the list can ALWAYS ask 'em privately. Richard Pyle and EVERY WKPP member I've EVER corresponded with has been unfailingly patient, considerate and helpful. Mike, this doesn't apply to you. You weren't asking any questions. When that dude asked about deep stops, you were pretending you knew the answers. rgrds billyw -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
